According to the Vietnam Glass Association, in the past eight months, Vietnam’s float glass exports to China and other markets have increased sharply. This is quite special for our country’s glass industry, because before 2020, Vietnam has never exported glass to China. Even Vietnamese-made float glass is always competed by Chinese imported glass “right at home” because the price is 30-40% cheaper. According to the Vietnam Glass Association, the reason why Vietnam’s exports increased sharply is that in the Chinese market, the large construction demand caused a sudden increase in the demand for float glass. In addition, China has realease a series of policies to limit the supply of floating glass, causing many companies to find supplies from Vietnam. According to the leading enterprises in the float glass industry, although the demand of foreign customers is still very large with the selling price higher than the current price in the domestic market by 40% – 50% depending on the type, they still meet domestic production needs. Ha Long CFG Industry Co., Ltd – a leading company in the glass market in Vietnam said that with a total capacity of 1200 tons/day, equivalent to 80 million square meters of standard glass/year, they still prioritize allocating 50%-60% of products for domestic customers
